I Think About What Could Have Been

We All Do This... I think everybody does this "What if" at one time or another.
In my case, I will sometimes think:
What if I joined the Navy (which at 18 I really did want to badly), then I think you hate taking orders from imbeciles, you have horrible eyesight, and you would never have met your first love.

What if I had never moved away from Kansas, then I consider all the opportunities and access that I would have missed in Ohio that would have been unavailable in Kansas. So, I probably would have gone with option A and have joined the Navy against parental advice and probably ended in the brig when either given a completely idiotic, immoral order or because I finally had to knock my superior on his ass for his own personal arrogance.

You may see a trend here. This is okay even healthy to review the decisions of one's life, but we shouldn't dwell on them too much since that could lead to depression or obsession. Sometimes you just have to recognize the decisions you've made and accept them regardless if they were the right ones or not. The key is any mistakes you've made along the way (and we all make them), to avoid repeating them.

Your right. Usually, we just need some perspective from the actual occurrence. It helps to remove the emotional baggage from the incident and look on it from a strictly intellectual view. It's not like we can change the past, so why dwell on it.
