This is one of the biggest socially constructed lie. Men and women can never be just friends.

I think that truth depends on the people. Some just don't have the ability to have friends that they find attractive without growing feelings past friendship but others are able to distinguish better what they want. Many times it is the simple ability to have someone there the same as their own gender to just be there to spend time with, talk to in rough times and do the same for them.
