Do you know anyone personally who suffers or has suffered from a hive mind affect?

For instance with an #MeToo movement example? Someone who wishes to click within a group they support so badly that they’ve allowed for lies, false claims, or almost forced themselves into dangerous situations to be a part of something because it’s where they would like to belong.

There are also other examples. It’s a bit of a 180 on the peer pressure one can experience. Whereas when peer pressured the persons conscience is convicting them of doing wrong for something they’re not agreeing with the hive mind mentality is rewarding them.

I have a student like that. If someone has a stomach ache, she has one too. If someone punched their brother, she did too.
@AthrillatheHunt That’s scary. How old is she?
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@Seventeen ten. She so desperately wants to be liked
@AthrillatheHunt They see one person get attention from it and then believe in monkey see, monkey do I suppose. At least she is still young enough to grow out of it.

Hey so what is the proper term for people who want to be the "leader" in a club?

Like anything you have done, they have done it three times bigger and better or worse?
@CestManan egotist. Story-topper. One up man. Show off. Poser. Braggart.

Not sure if there’s any specific word.
So many right from school days...I used to wonder why people stuck around with the bad folk even after knowing that they’re up to no good? 🤔
@Vivaci Maybe it’s just easier to try and belong?

I do not know if this is the same thing but my step dad used to claim to have whatever non-virus ailment was popular at the time.
@CestManan Yes it is. A social hive mind. Probably coupled with other things like narcissism as well.
I did that with religion at one point. But many of my family members still suffer from hive minding.
@canusernamebemyusername They do bad things for the sake of belonging?

🥺
1/2 My family and child are of this mindset.
@Iwillwait At least it’s only half your child. Just kidding.

@cherokeepatti And what was she doing for her hive?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Seventeen volunteering and running a Facebook page, seemed like she was recruiting. I don’t know exactly I just read what she posts.

@geoam1 And what did they do for their hive?
No. I don’t know anyone personally who would be involved in lying about something as serious as racism or sexism.
