Any trick to this sleep thing?

I hear good things yet never get it myself apparently.

So, I'm going to pass on something that 20 years of the hotel business has taught me, coming from airline pilots, who've been fighting the good fight against jet lag for as long as we've had long distance flights. Seems to work for them.

1. Half hour before bedtime, KILL THE ELECTRONICS. No electronic stimulation, period. No TV, no phone, no tablet, etc. UNPLUG YOURSELF.

2. Get barefoot.

3. Hopefully, you have a nice plush carpet or rug somewhere in your house... because just before you lay down...? I want you to take your feet, and run your toes through the lush carpet. Feeling brave...? Grass does the same effect. Just run them back and forth (probably easier from a sitting position-- the pilots tend to do this while sitting on the bed), scrunching your toes and feeling the strands of between your toes.

4. Laugh at yourself for doing this, because you look ridiculous.

5. Stop, get in bed. FALL ASLEEP.

Now, like I said before-- seems stupid and silly, and couldn't possibly work... but from my 20+ years working in the hotel biz, I assure you-- HUNDREDS of pilots can't all suffer from the same delusion.

See, for some reason, doing this "grounds" the body, sends a signal to the brain, and RESETS the body clock to LOCAL time... meaning, if you are a day person, you are about to get really really sleepy.

I hear that sleep is just a myth.
Soft pillows?

@SStarfish already have that but I might hit myself with something hard at this point.
