My mom would and still does use that on my dad. It's the most passive aggressive, evil thing... and it hurts yourself even more than the other person most times.

Fernie · F
cowardly, manipulative, petty, lack of healthy communication skills. I never put up with it. "When you get ready to talk to me...go fek yourself dear" was my reaction

Rather childish. Akin to holding a grudge. Instead of giving the silent treatment, say your piece and move on.

It's just immature, passive-aggressive and ineffective. If you've got a problem you have to deal with it.

childish.. doesnt solve anything usually makes things worse. instead of trying to resolve the issues going silent tends to add more flame to the fire.
It's immature and infuriating.
Quite effective when I'm just tired of dealing with it.
It's not terribly healthy, but it sometimes it's necessary to step away for a bit.
Magenta · F
Very emotionally immature, and hurtful.

I can’t stand being ignored….but I’d rather be ignored for a while than permanently.
there's really nothing quite as deafening as silence.

It works quiet well for me.
Fernie · F
@WiseGirl: it works fine for the passive aggressive coward who GIVES the silent treatment..yeah
WildHeart · 41-45, F
@Fernie: What works for me doesnt need your approval or your understanding. Some people deserve this type of treatment when their BS is taken to a level of no return!
marsbar · F
It gets awkward fast.
