Do you think some people are not deserving of forgiveness?

People always say you should forgive someone so you can heal and move on from something horrific that happened. Do you think it works? If the person Doesn't seem remorseful, do you think the y deserve forgiveness?

only if it's really in you to do, but i think the person considering the forgiveness should also forgive THEMSELVES, and most don't. which is why moving on tends to be hard for many. sometimes theyre mad at whomever wrong them AND themselves because they feel they should have known better, not been where they were, etc various things. sometimes the forgiveness that needs to be given, is for self.
thanks for BA!

It is not about them deserving forgiveness. It is about allowing yourself to just give up on being hurt, angry, or sick about them and just let yourself drop that burden and move on.
nobody deserves forgiveness.. forgiveness is a gift of graciousness because sometimes people are stupid af and do horrible things..

forgivness is being nice to the moron :)

It isn't about the person being forgiven or whether they deserve it.. it's about you and you deserving to be mentally free.

@Spokeskitty75: agreed

you forgive for your own sake, not for anyone else

A lot of times forgiving someone is more for your benefit than theirs. Just don't trust them again.
KingofPizza2 · 36-40, M
@sailnude: Is it though? I must be forgiving wrong then.
NewBecky · 51-55, F
@KingofPizza: We only look at forgiveness differently and I tend to be rather dogmatic and opinionated. Sorry for that!

But I think you are simply not getting stressed about what people have done to you. You are turning the other cheek when someone hits you. But that is different than forgiving,... in my opinion. :)

@sailnude: Ha, fair enough. But yeah I just feel like trusting again without the other person putting forth some serious kind of effort at reform is basically akin to not learning anything from the experience. So that's part of why I define forgiveness the way I do.

Thats a very hard question...if i am unsure about my feelings,i choose to forget and move on.I might still hate them, but seeking revenge or something like that doesn't seem like a good option

Only repentance can be followed by forgiveness... but I also do not worry about it if someone is never going to repent. It is on them, not me.

Punishment is as important as forgiveness. Fear's a great motivator to stop people from doing wrong.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Nope. Sad as it is to admit, there are one or two who i hope burn in Hell for eternity.
Midlifeguy · 61-69, M
It's very hard for me to forgive someone who wronged me in some way because that doesn't affect them in anyway. I just distance myself from that person and put them out of my life. I feel if there's any forgiveness to be made, the other person needs to make things right which never happens. Forgiving people without them asking for it is like being politically correct... which I'm not
DiamondInTheMud · 31-35, M
Everybody deserves forgiveness but it some cases correction has better results.
coolboy86 · 36-40, M
if they bumped into you yes if they killed your whole family no

If it is deserved, then is it forgiveness?
weldun · 51-55, M
Forgiveness is more for you than for them.
Balint81 · 41-45, M
It really depends on what they did..
Lusinda · F
Nope.

Without a doubt.

Most people will never be worthy of forgiveness for anything, but does that mean that you shouldn't forgive them? If we don't forgive everyone, then no one is going to forgive you, and I am pretty sure you want to be forgiven.
