Where is the logic in this?

So I got roped into some cheeky English exam to prove my superior English skills for a German. Thing is, it's for a specific branch of jobs - mine being focused on IT - however the test itself is in British English, which doesn't seem logical to me since most everything IT related is in American English.
Why they do dis?

True enough. In terms of programming languages and mark-up languages and most applications, British English isn't considered, It's hard enough for us Brits, but it's particularly cruel to give you the wrong version of English for IT.

Although I suspect your English is good enough to be able to differentiate. Still unfair, though.

@GlassDog: I wouldn't mind if they'd accept the answers in American English. That is what I learned from day one and that's the kind of English I speak. But the answers have to be written in British English. Bunch o' shit I say!

@GermanAf: I really don't see it's so important to spell a word a certain way when there are two accepted ways. Although I work in academia and understand how educators work. There's little room for compromise.

hmmm, what a good question which I don't have an answer to. I thought both forms of English were similar enough in grammatical structure to make literal translation and quantitative reasoning possible. I guess I was wrong especially in the context of IT work.

They're either stupid AF or they're just a bunch of asshole or they're both 😛

@Azrael: I doubt they're stupid. They are teachers and all. Unless teachers are stupid. That'd explain a lot.

@GermanAf: Maybe they just don't care 😛 or they're assholes 😂

Couldnt tell you. My guess is they contracted an English supplier for it because that's where their customer base is. Good luck.
