Do you know how to say dog in another language? In Latin, it's Canis.

perro (Spanish)
un chien (French)
inu (Japanese)
kutya (Hungarian)
собака (sobaka) (Russian)
@CrazyMusicLover That’s super cool.

@DarkHeaven Much cooler than having words that sound the same but have opposite meaning in different languages of the same family. 😅 That's common among Slavic languages.

Σκύλος (skylos) in Greek or κύων (kyon) in Ancient Greek (it's actually the root of the word cynical).

@DarkHeaven I bet it's beautiful though 😌
@HannibalAteMeOut My girlfriend loves me to speak to her in Icelandic. She doesn’t understand a word of it but she calls me her beautiful ice princess.
@HannibalAteMeOut I just think it sounds so harsh. It’s not smooth like most European languages. It’s a very throaty language.

@basilfawlty89 @RubySoo Often between languages with same roots.

@DarkHeaven true, but it should be remembered that even if the Welsh speak a Brythonic language, we are still kin, for we are both Celts.
@basilfawlty89 agreed. My people are Nordic and Gael. I’m not aware of any ancestry besides that. Iceland itself has been historically very isolated.
hundur in Icelandic. And I think “hund” in Norwegian. I forget.
In Arabic it's "kalb" "كلب"
