How do you feel about holidays?

Shipwrecked · 46-50, M Best Comment
I think all the holidays have become over-marketed... and the actual meaning behind them has been all but forgotten. (...if not completely forgotten...) 😔

I love holidays. I go on a couple every year. Good fun and can experience a different place with a different view and eat some good food. What I don’t like on returning is the disappointment of going home and especially the last holiday of the summer when I know I have to wait 9-12 months for my next holiday. This year I tried the whole not going away on holiday thing and it’s actually okay as I live near a beach anyway and had some sun and with cocktails and decent food and some good days out so I’m happy.

@Gingerbreadspice out of curiosity what are some of your major traditional holidays there? I learned something new today.😊

@SunKiss3d that's how I took your meaning of holiday...vacation
@SunKiss3d If you mean national holidays then Christmas and or Easter is the main two. I guess it depends on cultural differences that have their own national or public holidays or a celebration day. We have bank holidays usually on a Sunday or Monday and when we have a big country celebration like the queen jubilee or VE Day celebration recently, then that’s often a national British holiday. Of course the Irish have St Patrick’s day and I’m sure in Scotland they have their own holidays as well. Where the British usually take vacations is usually Spain or Grease and or similar countries and the Brits favourite part of the UK is the south coast of England where the sea is blue, sandy beaches, palm trees and quaint little streets and shops.

People make unnecessary fuss about them. They are supposed to be days when you take rest and not stress over unwashed windows, being unable to buy a certain present or get depressed when not everything comes out as you expected.

Highly unnecessary and bothersome.

@MURD3RM0NK3Y and always so expensive lol depending on the holiday of course.

@SunKiss3d The only holiday I used to like was Halloween but now that I'm all grown up I can't even enjoy it because I can't dress up like a big scary monster and get free candy 😢
SunKiss3d · 31-35, F
@MURD3RM0NK3Y oh yeah still my favorite hands down favorite holiday. Now that I'm too old to go trick-or-treating myself I love handing out candy to the kids and seeing their costumes and how much they enjoy Halloween it's like getting to look back at yourself when life was still fun and carefree. I always give full size candy bars lol.❤❤❤
it makes me cry lol
@SunKiss3d I guess a mix of everything. I grew up in a broken family, which I feel like is the major reason why I feel that type of way.

@fiji0water0 damn I am sorry to hear that but definitely can relate to the feeling from being from a broken home and never having good holidays. Honestly my Christmases and Thanksgivings didnt get better until I moved out and started my own family and had more like minded friends. I hope un time things get better you .❤
@SunKiss3d Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m glad they’re much more better for you now! I hope the same for me in the future. 🥰

I still like them all. It brings out the child, in me! I always look forward with anticipation. The only one, I really do not like for a “holiday”, is Memorial Day. I take the meaning to heart.☺️🥀

Love them. Some fun times .... a change of scenery does the soul good.
I'm not crazy about them. I'm not a very festive person.
