Does anyone remember the smell toy cap guns give off when fired?

I miss that smell. My childhood smell.

Before these plastic caps, they had them in rolls of red paper. I remember you could lay them out and cap them with a hammer.

@Laughman thats them. We used I set the off in crowds of girls at school
Laughman · 46-50, M
@CrewroomDays you could actually get them to sort of go off if you rubbed them on concrete.
CrewroomDays · 41-45, M
@Laughman I can well believe it

Yes, I do. I hadn't thought of that in decades. I think it's amazing how we can remember smells that we haven't smelled for so long.

@Elisbch Smells are a powerful thing when it comes to memories I feel.

Yes. I think it’s the same compounds they are looking for at the airport when they swab your laptop.

We used to take them to school for recess play. Now that would bring out the SWAT team.

I remember the smell vividly, but I used the caps with little dots of gunpowder sealed in paper rolls.
