Do you know that there are people who have recovered from this virus?

If you or a loved one tests positive, please don't look at it as a death sentence. Many more people have recovered from this than died from it. For some reason the media doesn't want to mention this.

The media has always wanted to focus on the negative

I've seen loads of recovery stories shared by the media along with reminder after reminder that most people will only suffer minor symptoms and don't need to go rushing to the hospital.

@SW-User here in the New York/New Jersey area, the media thrives on negativity and scare tactics. Hopefully it's not the same elsewhere

@chuck7882 I don't deny there's plenty of that as well. But they do that with everything. Because they know people are going to jump at reading and listening to the bad news more than they will the good news.

The recovery rate is 93%. Its the rare few that are getting seriously ill from it. In California the have 40 million people living there. They lose 6.9/1000 every year (deaths) from all causes. They have had 101 covid deaths thus far.

@TexChik 7% still leaves a lot of room for so much death though. If what the President said is true and the US loses even anything close to 100,000 people in the span of a few weeks. I don't care what the recovery rate is...that's a lot of death in such a short span from a singular event. An act of terrorism by Mother Nature (or China if your tin foil hat is tightly affixed this morning).

@SW-User The swine flu infected 66 million, hospitalized 330,000, and killed 12470 … in the US. Covid thus far has not approached those numbers
SW-User
@TexChik You're right. Swine flu killed 12,470 people over the course of 12 months and had a recovery rate of approximately 99.9998%. That's a long ways from 93% so it's not really a great comparison statistically. Covid is more than likely going to have killed more people than that in the US before it even reaches its peak.

Huh? I’ve listened to several people that recovered on the news. One was a Dr. We must be watching different news.
@chuck7882 I’m careful what I expose myself to. I have enough issues with reality as it is. ✌️

@DarkHeaven stay safe, my friend

The media where you are might not - though journalists always tend to stress the bad or negative - but there's been plenty of mention of that recovery here!
chuck7882 · 61-69, M
@ArishMell New York/ New Jersey media thrives on negativity!

@chuck7882 I'm in the UK, but we do know the epidemic has hit your city very badly. It is reported here. Approaching half-way through our first 3-week lock-down, our thoughts are with you.

The media wants to cause a panic. Easier to control the people that way.

I hear that often actually
I remember the days when news was actually news. Now it's a total farce clambering for ratings. Yes the recovery rate is actually good, however I doubt you'll hear that.

The only news channel that I find that gives me honest coverage of what's going on is the BBC World Service..

I have heard this mentioned by the media many times
