When are the fires even going to end

The bush fires in New South Wales alone have burnt out well over two million hectares since September and rapidly getting worse. Over three million Hectares Australia wide, an area bigger than Wales They’re not expecting weather conditions to help the situation in the foreseeable future, what the hell are we going to do?

All Scomo has done is sent his thoughts and prayers. It’s a disgrace how our government are doing jackshit about it.

@Les02 I know some firefighters from the US are here. I'm sure there would be a lot more if they get authorisation. I don't know why there's a delay, but it'd be with our government.

@SW-User I’m glad to hear there’s firefighters from the States here, it’s not as if they haven’t had their share of dramas when it comes to out of season fires.

@Les02 Yeah, i've heard there are fires in a few countries at the moment. Not nice. I was hoping for a cooler summer but it's not looking that way.
SW-User
Yeah it's really bad... the worst i've seen. Glad i'm not living near them so far, but summer has only just begun so it could get a lot worse in other places too.

@SW-User Yup and it takes far less than to start a major fire. I still remember seeing dry lighting storms starting fires near our home when we lived in northern Queensland. My dad often launched the boat in case we had to get out in a hurry.
SW-User
@Les02 Yeah, just a spark can do it. I always thought there was so much rain in Queensland that they'd never get fires, but i recently learned that they do.

@SW-User Up on the cape they normally burn themselves out before they do to much damage. But thanks to the changing environment the thick lush bush lands of southern coastal Queensland is becoming a tinder box like the vic high country. The way things are going there will be none left before to long.

Things are crook alright.. :(
Les02 · 26-30, F
@walabby why didn’t they bring the military in when things started getting out of hand, at least they could have bulldozed fire breaks, paired up with experienced firefighting crews or something 🤷‍♀️
walabby · 61-69, M
@Les02 They have done/ are doing just that. I heard an interview on the radio a couple days ago with one of the NSW firefighting bosses and he said that the army is being used. I don't know to what extent, though...

Maybe pray for rain
Les02 · 26-30, F
@TJNewton I would if I believed there was somebody to pray to.
