While conducting a professional email exchange with a company executive regarding lease of product, I am suddenly addressed as Honey?? WTHF???

I abhor that condescending terminology. It isn't cute. It isn't sweet. It's rude and disrespectful. For God sake, stop with all the cutsie pie pet names like we're close friends or lovers. Oh so many people are annoyed by those idiotic names and while most won't say anything, that silent disapproval can and does translate into things like lower tips, less favorable scores on a satisfaction surveys, loss of a sales,etc. I can only assume that along with respect and common sense, business etiquette is now also out of fashion too. 🤦‍♀️🙄

@SW-User It really annoyed me.

It does rather sound as if you are being condescended to at the very least. Its hard to know without a lot of context when to ignore the slight and maintain your dignity or ask nicely to speak to someone with more experience in business communication.

@whowasthatmaskedman There was nothing except business facts and figures in the correspondences. I did ask to speak with someone else. We shall see.
So if I chimed in with "you go girl" or "preaching to the choir sister" would that be on the same lines?

@TopCat No. You and I are not conducting any sort of professional business.
@Tomorrow I wouldn't do it if I didn't know you!

I said it to a colleague I know pretty well so just wondered if it was a mistake. She kinda chuckled when I said it so think it was OK in context but may refrain from it again.

It’s not always meant to be condescending... sometimes it is just the terminology of a certain region.

@SW-User I lived in the south for many years where it was common place. But the fact remains, that terminology has no place in business.

@Tomorrow Yeah, I understand that. It would never bother me tho in any place. But that’s just me and I know I’m different. ✌🏻

Completely inappropriate in a business relationship ...

@YoungDawg66 Agreed!

wow...bit of a brain snap by someone there...

@ButterRobot Agreed. Felt like he was the stereotypical sleazy car salesman who thought I was the "little woman". Gross.
