Which part of history do you study the most?

For me it's ancient and medieval history

I can't get enough of medieval history 😁

European, Nth African & Middle-eastern ancient, medieval & renaissance history. Japanese history of the 12th-16th C. US history of 19thC. MezoAmerican history of the 10th-15thC

Trying to find a good access point (in English) for Chinese history, esp of Tang, Spring/Autumn, 3 Kingdoms periods.

@firefall All very interesting! I have to give you some credit for the Middle Eastern part. You don't really run into too many people who are interested in Middle Eastern history. I forgot to mention that I also love studying Native American history

@BlackBloodDemon Well I found Assyrian & Egyptian history fascinating, and the whole Ottoman/Safavid Persian thing was ... intense :)

I got hooked on Native American history by the book 1491, I admit it was a total eye-opener for me about the pre-Columbian civilizations.

@firefall Oh yea definitely! When I took an ancient history class, it was weird to see some people from the Bible come up. I never imagined having discussions about Nebuchadnezzar outside of church.

And I'll definitely pick up that 1491 book.
I think if I had to pick a favourite era, it would be the 1700s. I think a lot of the events and ideas from that time, still shape our lives. Definitely the American and French Revolutions changed the way humans govern themselves.

Not sure I'd use the word study... More like dip into things that interest me

@BlackBloodDemon I enjoy reading, a wide range of interesting things out there... And learning is always pleasurable...I don't think it's until you leave school that you really find many of the subjects interesting :)

@ozgirl512 I actually used to find history boring until I entered 6th grade. That's when I really started doing some research and read as much historical stuff I could find online (mostly medieval). I went to school online in 6th and 7th grade so I had all the time in the world to research. I have to admit it was a lot of fun doing all that research. (:

@BlackBloodDemon I agree... It's fun when something bugs you and you want to know why... It's like reading a dictionary... You find out 300 things you never knew first lol
