Why do so many people refuse to read online? (See Details)

I recently made a post on a different site. To summarize, I was expressing disappointment and confusion over people’s unwillingness to read profile bios. On this site, I State my intentions in my bio. I’m only there for friends, nothing more. And yet, no one will read it any many message me seeking more than friendship. When i tell such people that i clearly state my intentions in my bio, they often say that they didn’t read it because they just didn’t want to or don’t care. So that was the basis of my post.
The comments, so far, are all complaining about how long my post is - that it’s too much to read and no one has the time for it (the length of the post was a little shorter the length of this post, as it is so far). Ultimately, they’ve proved my point - people are too lazy and full of themselves to take 30 seconds to read something someone has to say - or even skim it. However, it’s still incredibly annoying. I just don’t understand the mindset as-is, and they fact that people insist on being so unnecessarily rude in response is disheartening, to say in the least.
TL;DR

Nah, I'm kidding, but many people don't read long winded posts or even check people's bios simply because they don't care and it doesn't fit their agenda. The internet is a very selfish place, so you kind of have accept that and understand you are looking at social behavior in it's most pure and crystal clear sense. It's reflective of how people interact in the physical world only that is less discussed. It's still the same.
@KatieKatze oh nifty. Since moving back to the States, I have pretty much given up meeting people online

@LesserUgly
So I went to try out Skout... it seemed somewhat decent (still creeps messaging me, but what can you do). I was chatting with someone, everything seemed fine. Then I went to check back on the app and it tells me my email has been blocked. Oh well I guess.
Thank you for bringing it up, though.
@KatieKatze weird. Oh well, may as well go the old fashion way and join clubs, volunteer, or ask people for directions. Lol

I know how you feel, specifically on here. I have a message introduction that is short, that says interact with me here before PM, yet it doesn't matter

It’s a shame that there isn’t some sort of setting that keeps people from messaging if they haven’t read your introduction/bio. If only people weren’t so concerned with themselves.
They have the attention span of a boiled grape, that's why.

I have seen similar posts many times. The best advice is to block anyone who refuses to read your profile bio or "about me" story. If they are too busy to read for a minute about you then they are not worth a moment of your time.

You are asking people to invest time in you why?
RubySoo · 56-60, F
@St0ut i do. Thats how i get to know what people are about....
KatieKatze · 22-25, F
Okay, and that’s fine. Personally, I don’t think the reading I’ve offered is too much, on this post or the one referenced. However, I may be more accustomed to reading and writing than the average person. But if you don’t care to read it, I can’t make you. No one is obligated to read my posts or give commentary if they don’t want to.

@RubySoo I read thier stories. I engage them in here. Then if I want to know more about them. I love read a profile. And message maybe
