What in your opinion is the downside of being an introvert?

NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
personally if i need to advocate for myself or others i hate doing it cause i find it exhausting.

on the flip side i find extroverts annoying sometimes. my hubs and even a brother are extroverts and they don’t know when or how to end a phone call or conversation. are loud and love to monopolize peoples time just by talking.
TicketyBoo · 61-69, F
Lol, this is what I experience sometimes too, I never have trouble ending a conversation or phone call, lol.@NiftyWhite

Get to the point and move on. right?
TicketyBoo · 61-69, F
Exactly, lol.@NiftyWhite

Just as an FYI, being an introvert has a huge plus side; we don't depend on other people to make us happy like extroverts do. We are independent and get our happiness from within.
Feuerstern · 51-55, M
@Cloud7593 Absolutely correct!😊
CoffeeFirst · 56-60, F
It can be anxiety-producing when you have to interact with people. My biggest challenge is going to a business happy hour where I know no one and do not have a wingman as my emotional support animal. I've done it but it takes a ton of balls.
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
I find i just don’t want to do it. When people wanna go for drinks after work I feel like i would much rather just go home @CoffeeFirst It feels like one more hoop i gotta fo through to get there
CoffeeFirst · 56-60, F
@TicketyBoo Sometimes I am able to attend those. Sometimes I just can't. 😊 But it's all good. Thanks for the encouragement.
CoffeeFirst · 56-60, F
@NiftyWhite I understand the hoop! I text DH all the way there how nervous I am. Sometimes I have a work buddy to go with and that helps a lot.

It can be very lonely at times.
Cloud7593 · 46-50, F
Extroverts have a tendency to ignore us even if we assert ourselves. I've had this problem a lot. I'll speak up in a group and for some reason a lot of times will get interrupted or talked over.
TicketyBoo · 61-69, F
Some people do like the sound of their own voice, I agree @Cloud7593

only how others perceive you, but if you're comfortable in your own skin, chances are that's not an issue, nor should it be one. So, I'm not sure what the downside is, but is it true that tea is the answer to all life's problems?
SW-User
@TicketyBoo should we have crumpets or something? Is that a thing?
TicketyBoo · 61-69, F
We can have biscuits 🍪 @SW-User
SW-User
@TicketyBoo now we're talkin' 😝
Social stimulus deprivation is a self perpetuating problem. The more you isolate, the more you are prone to isolate as your social skills continue to wane. It is potentially fatal.
Murchu · 31-35, M
Other people tend to think your rude or unfriendly, even arrogant or you just don't like them.
TicketyBoo · 61-69, F
Yes it can come across like this when it’s not the intention. I guess it’s finding a balance that works@Murchu
Murchu · 31-35, M
I suppose it's about other people's perception of you, always confused me when I thought I was actually making effort to be friendly, then I'd hear from someone else that x person is convinced you don't like them lol
SW-User
You can miss out on all sorts of things by not speaking up or putting yourself forward.
That’s being *shy* then. Shy people are weak, not introverts. @SW-User
SW-User
@MorbidCynic No it's not in my experience.
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
Read the book Quiet. It’s all about this. Hate to say it but you’re not correct on all this. @SW-User
Feuerstern · 51-55, M
Missed opportunities.

I have no idea ...being the opposite...I'm told by some that I am "too much"....apparently introverts are not enough for some...to hell with them
Pichu · 22-25, F
There is so much to learn out there that it’s so much harder to ask about
TicketyBoo · 61-69, F
Yes, things are progressing at such a rate@Pichu

I've never felt being an introvert had any downsides that weren't made up by my own insecurities.
People think that you owe them your time and socialization.
I’d tell you but I’m too shy. And who cares what I think anyway
TicketyBoo · 61-69, F
Not all of them anyway..@NiftyWhite
I...I...oh nevermind
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
Introverts just don’t derive their energy from hanging out with people, talking to them etc. like extroverts do.
JustNik · 51-55, F
I’ve often been called a snob. It seems most will choose to think badly of you if you don’t paint them a ginormous picture and hit them over the head with it.
SaulGoodman · 26-30, M
Being confused for a follower
TicketyBoo · 61-69, F
Sheep, yes good point@SaulGoodman
