Easter - it's just a scam! What do you think?

Easter, like Christmas, Valentines Day, etc. are just over-hyped monetised commercial scams IMHO. I'm not religious in any way.

Christmas is a family thing with has nothing to do with God, or any other sky fairy. Focus on family.

Call me a heretic. Religion is so over-done IMHO.

Every festival is a tool for the media to encourage you to be overtly consumeristic

No. Whether your religious or not. Christmas and Easter are a lot of fun.
you're old enough (maybe) to have seen the way xmas has been "sanitized" over the last 2 or 3 decades.

when I was growing up there were plenty of christmas carols - people singing and going to church and it was much more religious

now it's people getting together - and the music might be playing - but as background.

is it commercialized? well business normally do the biggest part of their business in november and december.

so they pump up easter (which is mainly candy, ham, and new clothes) to build up some biz.

actually halloween seems to be getting more popular than christmas

and do we have to mention mardis gras :)

I don't care for the expense they can keep it. I'm more interested in the time off and seeing family I havent seen in a while

Holidays were fun when I had little ones, they think their grown adults now so Easter will be just another day 😊
Everyone knows that Christ was not born in winter. Christmas is a 'borrowed' Pagan holiday, and Easter is a 'borrowed' Pagan holiday, but it is the heart and the intentions of the heart that really matters. It is good to celebrate Christ's victory over sin and death. It is good to celebrate Christ's birth. We need celebration. The commercialization is just the 'human factor' and humans do much worse things.

Actually over here outside of church there is very little religion associated with Easter
