Do noise cancelling headphones work well?

TrunkZ · 56-60, M
Some people in my office use the bulky over the ear ones and say they are pretty effective. It depends on the type you get.

@SW-User The over the ear ones are bulkier and would be uncomfortable to sleep with... especially if you toss and turn at all. Like @jetpack said ear plugs might be a better choice. If that is uncomfortable, there are devices and even apps that can generate white noise and other sounds that can mask outside noises a little.

@TrunkZ Thanks so much!!!

@SW-User You're welcome. Good luck!

I still hear people I'm trying to block out talking, so nope!
SW-User
@SW-User Darn! I am starting a night job soon and want to sleep during the day.
SW-User
@SW-User it would probably reduce most noise like background noise well, but loud noises/people talking right near you probably not. If you're trying to sleep hopefully someone wouldn't be next to you talking!

SW-User
@Bagalamaga Nice! Do you wear them to bed?
Bagalamaga · 56-60, M
@SW-User sometimes. It cancels out the low frequency sounds. I bought it for plane rides. It feels like you’re head is in a vacuum first but you’ll get used to it
