Do you think survival of the fittest applies to humans as well as animals ??

SW-User
i don’t really. scientists have found people took care of the elderly and sick and disabled as far back as the stone age, despite these people making it difficult for the abled to survive. we take care of each other
SW-User
@dondon you mean to tell me people in wheelchairs are best adapted to their environment? a world made for people not in wheelchairs?
dondon · M
@SW-User That's not what I said, although they would outperform any athelete on a downhill race. But the fact that people take care of each other for instance is a trait that offers greater survival.
SW-User
@dondon how does it offer greater survival taking care of sick people in the stone age, wasting resources on people who are likely to die anyway?

Kind-of-not-really. It definitely did until fairly recently, like in the last 300 years or so. Most notably so in the last 150 years with the advent of modern medicine and widespread electricity.
It used to but not anymore. We've pretty much worked our way out of the food chain.
@dondon When was the last time you had to fight a predator on your way to the grocery store? Or when you went out to get the mail?
dondon · M
@GreenGoddess That's not what survival of the fittest means
@dondon I didn't say it did. I was saying we've worked out way out of the food chain and you tossed out three words. Real big effort on your part.

Yes and still does, but only if we accept being smarter as also inclusive to being the physically fittest. We will meet our extinction point like every other extinct living organism as in the past, another failed attempt. another dead end! Pack your stuff folks, were going away! Lol

To some degree, but less so than animals as we strive to help our weak and sick live longer, thus giving them a chance to procreate and pass on any genetic anomalies.

Not anymore
because of breakthroughs
the unfit makes it into the genepool

Until you cant fend for yourself like a "normal" person is able to
SW-User
Less so in nations with strong social programs.
dondon · M
@SW-User again, not the meaning of the word fittest in this context
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
Certainly not in regard to government and employment.
dondon · M
Fittest as in adapted, not as in cardio.

Nah, we help our sick more.
