What was an uncomfortable secret that you carried for years, until you found that it was okay to let it go and tell the truth?

My secret was my mother was a horrible mother. After my father past away she was no where to be found. I had to go into foster care til she showed up again. She’d always promise things and I’d believe her and then she’d disappear again. It took a long while but I realized she didn’t do those things to me because I wasn’t good enough or didn’t do the right things it was because she was selfish.

I'm just waiting for my brain to explode at this point
