Suicide is a crime or a mental illness

Givd reasons too
Insomniac100 Best Comment
its a fact that its mental illness. if the brain, the most important part of your body,malfunctions in a small way or is missing a neuron for whatever reason, that can be the deciding factor for a normal human being and a paranoid schizophrenic. its pretty pathetic people dont take mental health as a serious issue and automatically assume those who commit suicide are selfish and dumb when in reality they dont even know whats its like to be in a position where your brain physically doesnt allow feelings of happiness and self worth to conjure like other healthy brains. anyone who says suicide is a crime is a fucking idiot like the lawmakers that says its a felony.

@Insomniac100 well said i agree with u

#1 It's certainly not a crime.

#2 While it's not possible to account for all the reasons, there are in my opinion, reasons for which one might not want to go through another grueling experience from day to night which others refer to as "daily life".

Yes when a person on whom other people ( a family) depend kills him/herself, it is outright wrong.Also I don't mean to say that makes loners/independents more or less prone to such acts.

But if you are acknowledging that life is unfair, you have to acknowledge that it can be marginally unfair to a few unluckier ones. You can undermine their issues and dismiss their problems by saying that "Everyone has got problems", but it doesn't change the fact that they are not equal.

Sometimes suicides are the last and only resort.

So suicide in itself is not a mental illness, depression and other such things are.

hi silentgrave
Suicide is no longer a criminal offence but aiding a suicide is. Suicide is a consequence of mental illness but can also be a rational act of choice.
Best wishes

Suicide really isn't a crime tho, how I see things :/
It's self harm. Clearly, suicidal people are not okay and healthy, so you can define it as a mental issue, but not really an illness, because it is something that ultimately relies on choice

"It seemed like a good idea at the time...........Damn this tube makes my nose itch!"

@puck61 hahaha
I wouldn't generalize it in that way. It's an act of finality, certainly, the last possible option for someone in a lot of pain, either emotionally or physically.

Probably both. Some people just want to die. Personally I think it's a coping method. It shouldn't be classified as either a crime or mental illness.

if one has to explain... there's no way to articulate about the ordinance of the element you query.

it's not that simple as in "the law"

I wouldn't call it a crime. Some people who are mentally ill can kill themselves but it's not always the case.

Suicide is not a mental illness. It is an act that might be committed by someone with a mental illness, but sometimes a perfectly sane person can commit suicide, unless of course we want to be pedantic and label just about everyone on earth with a mental illness. It can be done. You can pick 100 people off the street and technically a licensed psychiatrist could diagnose every single one of them with something.

A suicide attempt or completed suicide is typically the act of a mentally ill person and/or someone who feels all options have been foreclosed, such as a terminally ill person or someone who has totally bottomed out in in life. Historically committing suicide was a crime but like many other issues, modern awareness has made it so we understand the act better and don't judge so dispassionately

It is the result of poor or improper mental health and should be treated as such.
@Ozuye502 I attempted suicide after the deaths of my husband and son. Do you consider grief a mental illness ? I mean, maybe it is...😞
Ozuye502 · 36-40, M
There are situations that can cause depression and the loss of a loved one especially a child is one of those situations I didn't mean to offend anyone by saying that but more often than not someone taking their own life is the result of a situation where depression is involved I'm sure you are not alone in that particular situation but my family has experienced the loss of a child my cousin was killed in a construction accident and my aunt and uncle and his brother and sister are still grieving over it and it's going back over 28 years. But there's better ways of dealing with it than talking your own life.
Shadowstep · 26-30, M
USA law states that suicide is a felony
@Shadowstep Some states have "Death with Dignity" laws where under very specific circumstances a physician can legally assist a person in committing suicide.

I read that in England suicide was once a capital crime. How's that for irony ? 🤔
Deadgirl · 26-30, F
@bijouxbroussard hmmm i see but its not a crime
@Deadgirl That's right, under those circumstances, it is not considered a crime. The laws are fairly new.
