What is the best outfit for a date?

kayoshin · 36-40, M
The one you feel most confident and yourself in! Do NOT put the one that people say you look great in but you don't feel represents you just to look hot: it will give off the wrong impression about yourself also it will undermine your confidence and make you wonder about the reasons why your date likes you. If you wear the things that say "this is how I usually am" then you're being honest with your date and with yourself since sooner or later he will see the regular you and the bigger the gap between date you and usual you, the higher the chances are that the person will feel cheated/disappointed. Keep the fancy looks and amazing makeup skills for after the first dates that way he'll be like "daaamn i made the RIGHT choice here!Winning lotto ticket!". The other way around he's more likely to feel like you don't put the effort on looking pretty for him like the first dates because you don't care anymore or that you got what you wanted and moved on. It's surely not what you intend but it can be perceived like that.
what kind of pants?

It's the opinion of a total stranger it's TOTALY IRRELEVANT. I don't know your body type, your preferences, the colours you're going to wear, the accesories, the shoes etc... the advice is useless if it's taken in the dark. Besides the greatest clothes on one person can be ridiculous on another then there's context, if he takes you to a movie you'll look stupid in high heels and an evening dress and if he takes you to a fancy restaurant you'll feel stupid in jeans and a Tee. There are too many variables. My advice is to think what makes you feel like "THIS IS THE REAL ME" and what gives you confidence from all the things you have in your closet. Wear that. I don't care if it's your halloween chewbacca costume, if that's what makes you "you" then show up in that, sooner or later he'll know :) So wear the pants you feel best in. And whatever you do DO NOT think "what does he like?" that's a horrible way to start you'll be stuck in that line of thought for the rest of the relationship and you will always have to adapt to him instead of being yourself.

Depends on the date. Is it at a public event in town? Is it in a restaurant, or maybe and expensive restaurant? Is he just taking you to the movies?
can you give me an example?

@Geminyoureye: Like a pretty silk short-sleeved top with formal black pants. Just an example.
Would a suit be too much?
