Why do people say that having someone who's like us isn't a big deal for a relationship to work?

Like everytime i try dating a normal girl she turns out to dump me and tell me mean things like I'm a bad influence on her, my life style sucks, and I'm so dumb... I guess it's better if i talk to emo people only?
