Do you think that feminism has turned into a culture of man-hating?

Gauntlets28 · 26-30, M
No. I think like a lot of movements and groups, it has always had an element of extremism that needs to be kept under control, but no, I don't think so.
Peaceful · F
No, I think some men's behavior has turned women into hating some of them. In Brazil, if it's discovered you are a lesbian? A group of men get together and gang rape you in an attempt to "cure" you. :(

I think the election of Mr.Trump has caught a lot of folk off guard !
And given the void left by Democratic response to some of his policy decisions, it's created something of a vacuum which has given airtime to some things that perhaps wouldn't normally be given such a high profile in the media.
A culture of man-hating ?
Not sure i'd go that far. But it has certainly raised the profile of certain women with an axe to grind !!

That's cause no dudes will go out with them beasts
Harsh. 😂
Justpeaceandlove · 61-69, F
To be honest I don't think half of the people who fight for anything truly understands what the heck their fighting for. :)
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Justpeaceandlove: I think there are people who just want to squawk and get attention....take a simple anti-war demonstration in the 70's and it turns into a "Give me an "F", Give me a "U"...." really quick, and most of them aren't anti-war or pro-peace, they just want to get out there and have some fun.
Justpeaceandlove · 61-69, F
@cherokeepatti: I just had a thought after reading this. I think the majority of the people in government just want fun too and they have it but in different ways. They are very well programmed to think they are elite and need to control everyone else. As we are well programmed to believe they crap. But the world is waking up. It's exciting for mtooo see how far this will go.

@Justpeaceandlove: This chaos is likely a smokescreen for worse things to come...

In my experience, for every single feminist I encounter who says something misandrist, there are twenty feminists who disagree with their misandry and five hundred anti-feminists who claim that all feminists are misandrist. So no.
That's probably true. I'd probably say the same distortion is applied to a million other groups as well. The moral of the story? People got something to prove!

Very good topic. As a guy it's sad to be lumped in with "macho men" "sexist men" as the #metoo movement has being doing. Do we want to create a world of putting down all men? This is the rhetoric that is going strong sadly. Many men are to blame, but do we want this kind of world where someone is better than another? Aren't we supposed to think of "equality" rather than putting people down?
vacationer · M
@vacationer Women are very good at socially being on each other's sides (men are horrible at it) and it's now pitting one against the other as one being free of mistakes. Also, we have a good list of guys feeling that they are being "man-hated on" but we aren't high-fiving each other here. We aren't following up on each other's comments, whereas women will keep the conversation going. That's the difference with men and women. Women have to hope that this #metoo thing doesn't backfire (as it has with a female politician in LA who has 2 men accusing her of sexual harassment) where men are afraid of coming onto them in a "friendly" & "gentlemen" fashion. Again, don't get me wrong as guys have been too aggressive with women for a long time (since the start of time?).

I dont know, however, it has caused some issues. The grass root issue still have not resolved. Both are different, unique and well suited for certain aspects of life as nature has put it together. It is not about who is above who or better, because a mother has most power than anyone.

It is about respecting each other boundries, not belittle one another and celebrate the difference and use them for the betterment of then mankind not for destruction.

Yes, by the actions that have taken place towards targeting men.
turmoil · F
Why do you think so?
@eleanorrigby: I think it's because Western Feminists have run out of things to complain about. If only they would focus their efforts on some of the Eastern nations where women's rights movements are direly needed.
Mugin16 · 46-50, M
Yes, it has. At least in the West.

Feminism was never about man hating but there are those who who practice their man hate under the name feminism which could be because of their misunderstanding of what feminism is all about.
Both Feminism and liberalism have evolved to an extreme. Much different than when I grew up.
I am not into a man hating or any kind of hating.I was raised to respect all human beings equally. Maybe my parents were utopian. Everything is extreme and people don't respect each others opinion and that is wrong.
Thanks for sharing.

Some people use it for that but in purest sense it is looking for equal treatment equal pay, equal rights (particularly last one should be so under human rights act) man hating minority of feminists gives feminism a bad name feminism itself is a good cause to support
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
I think that's one extreme and another is wanting things like free tampons and pads provided at colleges, and this has happened recently and they got their way...who provided these things for these women before they went to college?

It always was. Nothing has changed. The feminine resents the masculine as it seeks validation of its existence. It goes all the way back to Adam and Eve.

Maybe for few. But I think it should be only about respecting the feminine part in all men and women.
needsmilk808 · 56-60, M
Unfortunately yes but I suppose there are those that take most things to unhealthy extremes
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
In some aspects. It's definitely 100% socially acceptable to bash away on straight guys.
Straight white guys specifically. One of my friends keeps saying "I hate white people" as a joke, and although I'm not white it makes me really uncomfortable, especially when she says it within earshot of actual white people. Reverse-racism (a.k.a. just racism) and reverse-sexism (a.k.a. just sexism) do exist.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@Killers: F, yeah. I am a white guy but hate the N word, won't hear it. We have to stop breaking off into all these groups. Sure, men and women are different....let's leave it at that. Racism makes no sense, that bad karma will come back like a boomerang.
Shadowstep · 26-30, M
Yes! Of course!
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
Yes it absolutely has.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Well... of all the bad things I'd say about it, I don't think I'd say that's one of it's defining traits
