I like being able to just be me and do whatever with someone and look over and think... Darn I love that man... Even if we are just cutting the grass or whatever.

That can happen. The best relationships are those that are stronger inside the four walls of a bedroom --- not just sexually -- than anywhere else.

The problem is the rest of the bullshit in the world: finances, appearances, family pressure, loneliness...leads people to relationships that look fine on the outside, but are empty when no one's looking.
