I think no contact is working

First off I wanna say sorry for posting a lot about it but it's important to me. So I've been in no contact for 2 weeks now tho my ex. We've been broken up for a month now. A couple days ago she texted me asking me how I've been even after saying she'll never text or call me again. She was asking my coworker that she knows at school if I was still working where I'm working now. Then she texted me at 5 am last night with a text that was exactly like this "hey i know this is so fucking desperate but my nana passed away and i'm hurting really badly and i told you how much i love her and i understand if you don't wanna talk to me" (desperate for what?) anyways I know her nana did mean a lot to her so I did end up asking if she was ok cuz I do still care about her. Basically it she ended up saying "sorry I'll leave you alone like you wanted. Goodbye." (She said that 2 or 3 times actually...?) Did I make a mistake in giving her a little bit of attention or could that help with getting her back? This also makes me wonder why she wasn't going to the guy that she's been seeing for about 3 weeks now too. Does it sound like she really is desperate about getting my attention?
