Have you ever known someone who had a real fear of experiencing romantic heartache, e.g. break ups?

So they avoided (romantic) intimacy altogether?

I know they exist.. I have had conversations with them over the Net..

The worst kind are the ones who do get into relationships but when they start to have stronger feelings and their other person starts to get serious then they will sabotage that relationship and dump the other person again out of the fear of the relationship ending when they are fully committed and deeply in love..

These people leave a path of devastation behind them.. Shattered partners who have no idea why the promising relationship suddenly hit a brick wall.. They can create in their former partner the same internal fears..

It all comes down to the complete lack of real self confidence.. These people don't really believe they deserve real love or that they are not lovable enough to maintain a relationship..

I was...until it sneaked on my back and hit me in the head... :/
I fear that this may be just what I'm doing right now...

I actually think many suffer from this
I should start blaming that!

Yeah, myself.
Yes, I know several people like that.
Scores of years later, they are still single and so well adapted to living alone that it's impossible to imagine them living any other way.
Yes. I’ve known several people like that.
