I wish verbal abuse is as visible as physical abuse scars

Just a picture of a domestic abuse victim randomly shared by my group of friends. It's sad to see how some people choose to stay in such relationship but then again, I keep asking myself the same question - why am I staying in such a toxic relationship? 😞

Many reasons ladies, and men will stay with the abuser, and nothing will change the victims mind until they are ready to leave

By that stage, they've usually already been worn down enough to believe that they won't get by without the abuser, though...

I wish it was as well...

I think the world could become a better place if it was. Not only would we know when we're being the offenders and where we have gone wrong. But we would also know when we're being hurt.

And maybe we'd be able to wake up to things sooner. And all help each other before it's too late.

I've seen injuries like that and worse. What's really sickening is when the victim attempts to report it and is told "It's not a police matter." :(

@Sharon I'm a paramedic and I've attended a few incidents of domestic abuse. My husband was also a victim of his previous wife so I have a better insight to these matters than most. It seems the "It's not a police matter" excuse is most frequent in cases of male victims of female abusers.
