It just makes zero sense to me

In online dating why people ask for information like what phone company or bank I use. Like to me it feels like- could they be any more obvious that they’re trying to steal personal information. Like what’s so difficult about instead asking me the stuff that I’m into, what tv shows I watch, or what type of music do you listen to? It make absolutely no sense. Maybe I’m an idiot and there’s just something I’m not thinking of but it’s just very weird to me.
