Are women deliberately having a best male friend still up for dating a man?

Yes, absolutely. A best male friend is not always a woman's final destination. Sometimes for example, she will have a best male friend whom she knows is gay and is absolutely not interested in her sexually. To him she may be friends because he enables her to speak with a male who can stay focused in her mind and not on her body.

She may ask her 'best male friend' out on a date to act as a decoy for her and not be harassed by other men whom are intent on 'hitting' on her.

Dating a different man and not simply hanging out with her 'best male friend' then serves other aspects of her needs, such as her need to experience intimacy with a heterosexual male.

If she does not have a straight male friend in her life, she can at least pretend that she does to her girlfriends by showing up to the dance with her 'best male friend' who may pose no threat nor obligation to her nor her female friends.[/c]
