So what now?

I have this friend that I've added on snapchat 2 years ago and we talked every now and then, said hey, etc. So throughout the couple years, he would send me messages and say how much he likes me but I never really did anything about it. Well now, he's got my attention because of how kind and sweet he is. A few days ago, we started chatting over the phone, and it was really nice so we did it a couple days in a row. Well now, he had kind of stopped messaging me. Not in a rude way, but more like, because he's a construction worker, he is kind of busy and sleeps earlier but doesn't really say hey. To get to the point I'm kind of crushed about it. Should I wait until he sends me a message and says hi? Or am I overreacting and should give him some space to catch up on work and say hi in a couple days? Because I haven't been able to understand guys lately. 🙄
