Do you know anyone who went into the restaurant business?

Yes, two families. One did very well, but they spent all of their time there and sold it so that they had time for their young kids. Another couple opened a sports bar/restaurant and are still raking in the cash. Their kids now work there and make good livings too.

I worked for a friend's family when they opened a sports pub. It only lasted a couple years maybe but it was a lot of fun.
