The left leaning liberal media CNN, MSNBC, NYT, NBC, CBS, USA Today, on and on have absolutely no idea who Trump supporter are and how much leeway his supporters are going to give him to drain the swamp.

If I could give him one piece of advise it would be....He can't depend on career politicians for advise on what is wrong with the system, because they are part of the system

What in the world would they possibly think they could impeach him for? Lol

@USMCGUY: i'm sorry to be back here again (boy, i'm apologizing a lot you right). it's just that you said something that niggled me.

at the time, i was in a deep PM convo with another SW member so i skipped past it. sadly, it's still niggling me. you said:

"You would not take from one company to pay the debts of another that has failed. That's not wise nor is it good business."

RICHARD BRANSON

never inherited a single penny from anybody. started his first business at the age of 15-16 selling records from a phone box. went on to start his own record label and now has his own trans-Atlantic airline and hundreds of other businesses.

some of his businesses have failed. some because of changes in the market, some because they were dumb ideas to begin with.

he has never filed for bankruptcy on any of these failed ventures. why? because he values the integrity of his brand above that of mere money.

oh, and he pays his taxes!

@room101: thanks for getting back to me. Sorry it took me a while to respond. I'm traveling for work right now.

So my thoughts on your comments are:
1. Trump did not invent the bankruptcy laws or processes. He is not and will not be the only person in history to use them. They are available to dissolve both personal and business debt. Simply going bankrupt does not mean he squelched on people he owed money to. Depending on the kind of bankruptcy debt may still be repaid even if inpart or over time.

I don't know which bankruptcy tools he leveraged so I can't speak to the specific of each case. I would say that it's his role as the owner of a company to make money. If a deal falls apart for whatever reason, he has to address that deal and company individually. It's profit and loss will stand on its own. If the company fails it would be entities to the same protection you would have if you owned a company and had to dissolve it because conditions became unfavorable.

You can't fault him for doing the same thing that almost anyone else in the world would do. You can admire Richard Branson and can look up to him if you like but it's hard to see you can be upset with someone who does the same thing any other business owner would do.

Is it moral? Well I would have to bring you back to the Jewish/Christian values which our laws are based on. In the Jewish faith there is something called the shemetah which says after 7 years all debts must be forgiven but that is something entirely off topic.

He has had over 100 companies. If 5 in the 100 went bankrupt and the other 95 are profitable I would say that is an amazing average. Show me another entrepreneur that has that kind of success. That is impressive as hell.

2. Discussion of bankruptcy does nothing but serve as a side issue from the original charge you leveled which was he does pay taxes.

I believe you may be referring to an instance where a business incurs a loss. If a business spends more money than it takes in, it would not pay taxes. Corporate tax is based on profit. If he has lost money in one business the next tax would be zero.

Now honestly, do you REALLY believe that he doesn't pay anything? REALLY? Are you certain you aren't just running with a headline that you heard a talking head say during the campaign trying to impugn this mans charachter and thought I'll just throw it in on this post for good measure? If you believe that, there must be proof. Something a little more than saying "go search the internet for yourself".

You know during the previous administration I was willing to consider the evidence that the president submitted a false birth certificate. I was willing to hear the evidence and form my own opinion. As things came out I was willing to go back and reexamine my position. I took nothing the media offered at face value.

Not once during that time did I go out on a site and claim Barry was not a citizen. I'd have to have proof to make such a claim. As it turns out, the public put the issue to bed, it was buried by the media and became a non issue. What I would hope happens by me telling you that tale is that you may see the similarity to the statement you made. There are enough lies and misinformation being thrown around by the press daily on both sides. As a little person, we may never know the truth of things. All we can do is choose to stay informed. Weigh the information we receive as it comes in against the filter of our life's experience and make sense of things as best we can.

In the end, the only choice we really have is whether or not we are going to be a mouthpiece and an extension of this misinformation campaign or are we going to pass on falsehoods and half truths.

I get that you don't like him. Many never will. Judge him on what he does and the outcomes. Not my the political gossip and slander. With the partisan environment today that may be too much to ask but you have to strive for something.

Thanks for your opinion.

@USMCGUY: thank you for a very informed and well reasoned response.

you're right of course, bankruptcy is a side issue, as is the morality and ethics of the mechanism. all i was trying to say was that there are other, very successful business people, who have never chosen to deploy that tool.

as to the issue regarding his taxes (which is my main point in all of this), i'm only going by what the man has said himself. again. i ask you to look it up for yourself. surely it can't be considered as misinformation and slander if you find a video clip of an interview or whatever with him actually saying it!
