The leftist mantra - abort babies and save killers. A perfect philosophy of life
[big]GOV. CUOMO COMMUTES SENTENCE OF RADICAL LEFTIST TERRORIST JUDITH CLARK[/big]
Cuomo forgives her role in a triple murder -- for which she has never shown genuine remorse.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has decided to commute the sentence of a domestic terrorist, Judith Alice Clark, who willingly participated in a bloody robbery that led to the deaths of a security guard and two police officers. Clark, who pleaded not guilty, but was convicted of felony murder, had been sentenced to such a long prison term that she had no real hope for parole during her lifetime – until now. Cuomo’s decision to commute Clark’s sentence will not immediately result in her release, but the steep reduction in her sentence will make her eligible for parole early this year. The loved ones of the three men killed during the robbery and getaway in which Clark took an active part will have to continue to experience their hellish losses for as long as they live. Unless all the family members of the slain are ready to forgive what the self-proclaimed “revolutionary” and “freedom fighter” did, and they do not object to Clark’s release on parole, she should continue to experience her own hell in jail for as long as she lives.

You can't legally abort a baby, only a fetus, which is not yet conscious or self-aware. That being said, I think we can all agree that our prisons are broken, though we disagree on how. You want the prison to offer more punishment, whereas I want the prison to offer more treatment. The United States has more of its own population in prison than any other nation in the world. Prison is used for petty revenge instead of rehabilitation, and it's very expensive to keep all these people locked up. Personally, I would prefer we actually treat the mental disorders, economic problems, and everything else that causes people like this to exist in the first place, rather than just lock them up, effectively accomplishing nothing except allowing them to be a burden to even more people than they were when they committed the murder. That's just me, though.

@Madhatter:

Okay, your point is well taken. But, I think it goes much deeper that that.
Let's see, if I can explain my opinion on that to you this way.

I can't tell you how many people I talk to that will say something in the line of: "My shrink says this" or "I told my shrink"

It seems to me, that the media in our society promotes the image that the American people are screwed up, and so, too many people think they need to have outside help to get their heads on straight. (Yes, some do, but most of them are wasting their money and are doing more harm than good. When in fact, middle America is not like that. Take out the liberal West and East Coast and the average American person lives a normal life.........

I guess there is more to be said, but, that's all for now, haha.

Normality is decided by the majority. So I'm not sure you can take out the East and West Coast, which are the majority of the nation, and still call it average.

While we certainly do speak more openly about mental health issues these days, I wouldn't agree that the media paints everyone as having problems. It just points out the importance of maintaining proper mental health. You see a dentist for your teeth, a PCP for your body, so why wouldn't you see someone if you suspect your mind isn't healthy? After all, your mind is the single most important part of you. It is you. It would be wonderful if everyone could handle their issues on their own without outside help, but that's just not the reality of it. Some can, and that's fantastic, but many can not. Unfortunately, far too many people (in my opinion) jump straight to medication to fix their problems. Our nation is rather overmedicated. That's why I typically recommend therapy over medication for mental health problems unless absolutely necessary.

I may have lost the thread of how this relates to the prisoners, but it's an interesting conversation, nonetheless. :)

YUP, you did! LOL

You said: "take out the East and West Coast, which are the majority of the nation, and still call it average."

My reference is to the "wacko liberals" on the east and west coast, hehe.
(Not sure if you consider yourself a liberal, but you don't sound like one. More of a common sense individual who simply has a difference of opinion.)

Anyway, I digress...

Between the pharmaceutical industry and the media (See how I got the media back in there. lol) our country is over medicated. The pharmaceutical industry is targeting the middle class now. The government takes care of the poor and the rich can afford it...so what's left? The middle class.

How many of these shrinks prescribe meds for their patients?

This has nothing to do with being a liberal. Idiot.

hunkalove,

Sorry, "generally" liberals believe in abortion, but do not believe in capitol punishment....So, I have to disagree with you.
