I Am Interested In Politics

Does anyone have a favorite candidate for the Democratic nomination in 2020?

If you have a favorite, please describe why, my favorites are Bernie, Yang and Tulsi, and I agree with Marianne Williamson on some levels as well. My main qualifiers are integrity and keeping corporate money out of politics.

Trump, for obvious reasons.
Platoscave · F
@BlueRain uhh..he's not a Democrat.
BlueRain · 51-55, F
If he was he wouldn’t be a good president.
Platoscave · F
@BlueRain He's not a good president NOW

In fact he is NOT the president at all since he was not legally elected.

Joe Biden seems to be the obvious choice

@Doomflower You never know. I once worked at a truck stop owned by a former Lt. Governor of the state of Nevada, ran on the Democrat ticket, him and the guy who picked him for his running mate won in the early 80's. Nine months in he switched to repub, my boss was running a long con. He later admitted he should have waited until he got elected as governor to switch, he lost that bid.

@NativeOregonian ugh. Why bother voting? On election day I'm masturbating instead.
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@Doomflower That sounds like a plan too, seriously not joking or being sarcastic, protest masturbation, it could catch on :)

If keeping corporate money out of politics tickles your taste buds, there's also Steve Bullock. He's a centrist in a red state, so he has some chance, even though he came into the game late.

If electability is a consideration, does that change your list?
My pie in the sky pics are Pete Buttigeg, Harris and Ocasio-Ortiz. I want single payee healthcare and human rights and a return to sanity, for fucks sake I am so tired of living in this state of shock and horror at my government and 40% of the people in my country. But my realistic choices would be ... actually, whoever wins is my realistic choice. I just wish the host of nobodies would drop out sooner rather than later to quit dividing the party and wasting donor money on their going nowhere campaigns.

@SushiRed Thanks for your input, in my opinion neither Harris or Pete are free from corporate money and Ocasio-cortez is too young to run for president but she will hopefully be a good future choice as I believe she along with Bernie, Yang, Tulsi and Marianne Williamson are also free from corporate money. I haven't really paid attention to Steve Bullock so far but I will try to follow him on Twitter. I hope you finally get single payer healthcare in the US, it has been the norm most places in Europe where I live. But there are many issues as a result of money in politics including an exploitive private prison system coupled with a counter productive war on drugs. Are you on Twitter? I think it's the best place to keep up with US politics
SushiRed · 51-55, F
@Saxo2000 no I'm not on Twitter. I don't want to be bombarded - I limit looking at news until I am in a good head space for it. We are living this insanity here in the States - while it might be of interest elsewhere, here it is a sickening tragedy that we are helpless to fight, as proven by the last presidential election. I can only take so much of it. So, whoever wins the Dem nomination is who I am pinning my hopes on.
Saxo2000 · 41-45, M
@SushiRed The political decisions in the US affect everyone in the world due to your massive cultural, economic and military influence.
Doomflower · 41-45, M
Let me know when there are fewer candidates.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
I don't like any of them and I'm not paying any attention to them. I will vote for whomever the Dem candidate is and hope for the best. I hope it isn't Biden.
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@hunkalove And that is why we are in the mess we are in, apathetic voters who don't care.
Platoscave · F
@hunkalove If you invite me to a friendship I would accept.
NativeOregonian · 51-55
Tulsi Gabbard, she wants to end the military industrial complex and regime change wars.
Saxo2000 · 41-45, M
@NativeOregonian Nice choice, Tulsi is awesome
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@Saxo2000 Thank you, yes, she is the best.
Platoscave · F
Hey Saxo where did you think this thread was going to go on an open "anyone" forum like this?
Saxo2000 · 41-45, M
@Platoscave I guess I just posted it to get an idea of the political climate outside of Twitter, I think it was a useful exercise apart from one guy I had to block because he did nothing but condescend
