I Will Always Miss My Uncle
My mom's oldest brother passed away on Friday morning of a heart attack. We buried him yesterday. You know when a man is well loved in the community when the entire staff and customers of his favorite restaurant shuts down for an HR. This is a restaurant that never closes BTW. They walk across the street to the main town cemetery to join those of us who came from the funeral home. The store manager removed her apron and with my cousin permission tied it around the handle of his coffin. She told us later she will never forget the work my uncle and his crew did to rebuild the restaurant and alot of that part town after an f4 tornado destroyed it almost 9 years ago. We heard many such stories of the great things my uncle did from the almost 1000 ppl that came to vistation or the graveside service. It was requested by my uncle's children that the chapel funeral remain family only. But it was still very large group my uncle had 8 children including the infant son who died a few weeks before I was born and 17 grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by one and all. The man who did his funeral also 36 years ago did my grandpa's funeral and said he hasn't seen such a crowd many times beside those 2 times.
