CARUSO a song by Lucio Dalla, one of the most loved singer and songwriters in Italy.
Caurso was an important tenor lived at the end of 1800/ beginning of 1900, in this song Lucio depicts the tenor in his last days, he was ill and very close to death and here he thinks/speaks to a woman or a girl close to him, with some reference to his life.
"I love you so much; so very much, you know. It's a bond, now, you know, that thaws the blood in the veins."
This song is not sing in proper Italian, it has more an accent from Napoli, Caruso was in fact born from a poor family of Napoli.
I don't like dialects/accents, but this song is an exception, cause of the talent of Lucio Dalla, he seems really struggling, suffering as the text of the song itself screams.
Lucio was used to struggle, and he lived his life as a closeted gay, even having a long time partner of the same sex. Lucio Dalla is a melancholic figure of Italian music.
