I Think That Some People Are Amazing

There are people in this world, and at least a few on SW, who make life better just by virtue of the fact that they exist. They are the ones who brighten a room (or a post) just by walking in. Their energy is infectious. They create joy around them with a smile, a thoughtful word, a touch. They exude warmth. People are inexorably drawn to them. For very good reason.

These people constantly change lives. Most often in small, everyday ways -- making someone's day just a little bit better, a little bit brighter. Sometimes in more profound ways -- giving reason to look at something differently, changing one's perspective, somehow giving comfort in a time when being comforted seems impossible. And once in a very rare while, creating radical change in some extremely fortunate person; perhaps changing a life, or even multiple lives, forever, through their freely given words and actions and love.

These people see more than I can. Feel more than I can. Understand more than I can. Love more than I can. To me, their gift feels like magic. Yet, these people sometimes hurt, doubt and question -- so deeply. More deeply than I can. Unsure of what impact, if any, they are having. Wondering if it's worth it. Despite their great strength, there is a fragility about them -- a vulnerability. Too often exploited. Even unintentionally.

When one of these people touches you in some way, make sure they know. Take a moment to return some of the positive energy that they lavish on those around them so selflessly. Let them know that they have an effect. Let them know that they matter in the world (or in a Similar World). Take a second out of your busy day to give something back. Even just a little. It's important.

To you, my beautiful friend, thank you for all you do. For all you bring to the world. Not just for me, but for the many who you care about and who care about you. You do have an effect. You matter. You make the world better. You make me better. Never doubt.

You are loved.
