Am I the only one who hates this?

I belong to a credit union. ALL of their advertising harps on the fact that “you’re not a customer, you’re a member”.
But every damned time I go to them for a loan or some other form of help, “sorry, no”

If I was a customer I could complain, as it is they’re playing with their “members”.
