I don't know if it was "accidental" but I do have a little story for you...

The last time I stayed at my mom's place for a few days, I got hungry real late at night and couldn't find anything to eat other than snacks for seniors. While I'm going through her cabinets and drawers, she disappears and comes back to the kitchen with a box of Lucky Charms.

I fill a bowl, pour milk over it and take a great big mouthful. It tastes like the marshmallows are made of moth balls. I ask her how long ago she bought it and the look on her face makes me ask about the expiry date and she says,
"What? They've never been opened. I bought them for Daria when she was coming here after school."

Daria's my niece and she stopped going to grandma's for the afternoon, at least 7 or 8 years ago LMAO

Nope - I check all my stuff at the store and always get the stuff in the back - when I find expired things on the shelf I take it to the checker - I do it all the time

I once ate an Australian MRE that had been expired by 2 years.

It was still good. except the crackers were a bit stale tbh. But idk maybe because the packing had a small hole or something.

@rckt148 An expiration date, and a "Best if sold by..." date are different, though. One means the quality is best if sold by that date, the other means that the product will expire shortly after the printed date. Milk for example can last a week after the expiration date, before it starts to go bad.

@SW-User You are correct ,but you can also freeze milk and it keep a Looooong time after date as many other foods
during hurricane Katrina ,all my neighbors had freezers full of meat ,,and we had no power
So I smoked it for them ,and no one wasted any meat
It all has a lot to do with experience ,and what you know

I always check the expiry date. I was at the grocery store yesterday and they had a bunch of cereal boxes with 2018 expiry dates. 馃樀馃槧

all the time
the date on the package is a "best sold by" date
not the day it goes bad

SW-User
