Would you take this as rude?

We have a private well for the neighborhood (our neighborhood is a single dead end street). There is a board that governs it and my neighbor across from me is the treasurer. A couple of months ago I missed a payment because we had an emergency with our heat. I still make my monthly water payments but I still haven't got that month caught up yet. After my most recent payment I got a text message from my neighbor like I always do that letting me know that they received the money. Except this time she added to the message "Just an FYI, you are the only one on the street who pays their bill on the month after it's due."
After thinking about it I just said thanks for letting me know and I will try to get it caught up.
After thinking about it more I thought of all the things I could have said but I never would like "said the person who doesn't have kids" or "is there an extra fee for being the only one on the block a month behind?"
I just don't think it was very professional of her in her role as the treasurer.
I don’t feel it was rude. Just a reminder because, after all, if you put yourself in her place, perhaps it’s hard for her to keep good records if you are consistently late. She wants to be professional with her records and all. It also causes stress, anticipating payment, month after month. I don’t see that as unreasonable.

Unfortunately, when we are delinquent in our payments for banks, credit card companies, and utilities, they are much less gracious than your neighborhood well board.

I would ask if you could pay off the balance over the course of several months by paying your current bill and a portion of the bill that is past due. It would help everyone all around.

@SW-User That is a good idea and thank you.

@morrgin You are welcome. 🙂
It’s hard to keep records up to date, when waiting month after month for people to catch up. If everyone did that, think what a mess that would be.

@LadyGrace It would be a mess. I also don't think my electric company would tell me as an FYI that I'm the only person on my block paying my bill the month after it's due. (I don't owe the electric company any money.) They follow the procedures of taking payments with professionalism. They don't try and get money by making an attempt at inducing guilt in their customers by comparing them to other customers. Unless it's collections and we all know how they operate.
I do thank you for your replies though. It's good for me to hear other points of view even when it might be something I don't want to hear or agree with. It's still appreciated.

Personally I would take it as rude and find it hard to see why it should be necessary. Life requires making allowances.
Sorry, I was going to answer but got distracted by your profile picture! 😍
