I Support The Police

Not all police are power hungry, however there is one thing that I hate and that's the poor service you'll sometimes get from police.

They are 100% necessary. They have to do their job or society would fall into chaos. There are some who are power hungry and some who just genuinely do their job.

When on the receiving end of a serious crime you need a power hungry person driven by success and a need to win. They are not the most compassionate but they get the job done. I had a one like this who "helped" me. I didn't like him and I had words with him and he was a very hardened man but he really enjoyed his job of putting people in jail so he was the best person at the time.

The other time I felt I was really "helped" was when a young nieve trainee told me something a trail of experienced officers had failed to say. I don't know why they didn't give the advice he gave, complacency perhaps but the young nieve guys advice actually allowed me to stop the reoccurrence of an on going issue I had.

So at different times there's different needs. Sometimes a power hungry promotion driven person is needed and sometimes a nieve person is needed. Sometimes even a complacent person is needed like when my son age 14 through a piece of wood at my window, I would of had him prosecuted because I was very angry but this police officer said "tell him I've taken the complaint formally but I won't because you don't really want him to have a criminal record" He was right, my son hasn't thrown stuff again so far and he's 17 now.

So different styles of policing are needed for different problems.

I've generally found their service pretty reasonable and proportionate to whatever has happened. When someone stoll my rubbish (which didn't have anything concerning identity in, it was just rubbish) I reported it incase it was happening alot for identity or something and I had a good laugh with the policeman about how they weren't going to go around searching for my rubbish.

So in my experience it depends on the crime and I've pretty much found them to be fair and proportionate.
