What are good questions to ask for a first apartment?

I do have my own list, however I could be missing important questions.

What are some you would ask?

Security, crime rate ( they will tell you to look it up or say that it is safe)

Pest control procedure (in an apartment its a must).

If no washer dryer connections ask to view the laundry room. If half the machines are broken consider this heavily.

If carpet will it be cleaned or replaced?

Late fee policy just in case. Some of the late fees are predatory.

Guest policy. Some apartments consider you to be in violation of your lease if someone stays over too often that is not on the lease

@REMsleep thank you. Ive been looking at crime rates online. I'm not expecting anyone at an apartment to be honest with me you know. They're like sales people. Good idea aout the washing machines. I had planned on getting a mini portable one though

Go there on Friday night, unannounced. Take note of the noise/activity level you observe and then consider whether this is what you want to live with for the next year of your life
@CBarson my advise too

@CBarson certainly, I planned to do this.

are you a cop?
Terms on breaking the lease if needed.
Just ask what the tenants think of the next crew and then ask around yourself, discretely, and look at as many online reviews u can find. That will tell you who they are.
