I Am Moving

*inhales exhales inhales exhales inhales exhales*

I’ve probably been ranting too much about this around SW (lol) but I can’t believe it’s happening right now!!! My sisters and I have been waiting for this moment since 2016 when my parents decided to join EB-5 Immigrant Investor Visa Program with the hope of attaining the green cards for all of us. The business went smoothly although it was rather a long and protracted process. There are no words for me to describe how grateful I am for having such awesome parents and having them give me an opportunity to discover and learn from the world outside of my country through this move to the US. This whole experience is definitely going to be overwhelming as well as challenging for just a small Vietnamese girl like me who has never lived overseas before. 🇻🇳 ~ 🇺🇸

Just in the next few hours, we’ll be at the airport checking in for our first flight to Incheon, South Korea. After that, we’ll continue our journey to Atlanta (this is probably where I’m gonna start screaming lol) then finally Raleigh, North Carolina, our designated destination. I heard it’s going to be chilly there and since it’s springtime in April, pollen spread out by the wind is gonna be a huge difficulty for us as it’s been known to cause people allergies, but other than that, the community of North Carolina is some of the friendliest people in America! I can’t wait to make new friends there and hopefully be able to maintain as many great friendships as I can.

So you've been here two months, now? How do you like it? And how come you speak English so well?
And, btw, welcome! 😊

@daydeeo Yes, I’ve been here two months. It’s crazy how time flies lol. I’ve been loving it here. People are so kind and so lovable. And I dig that Southern accent lol.

I’ve been learning English since I was 3. It’s not perfect because I’ve been constantly surrounded in a Vietnamese speaking environment my whole life so far, even when at home, I’m still affected by it as my family is 100% Vietnamese and we speak Vietnamese every day lol. I’m planning to change that though, especially now that I’m in America and living in an area where there’s barely any Vietnamese community.

Thank you so much. I appreciate the warm welcome 🤗

@SW-User Well, your English is almost perfect. I haven't detected any flaws, and my grandfather was an English teacher, and my mother never let me forget it!
