I Had A Scary Experience

I am already having an issue with a few profiles..people who want to know who i am to cause some problems. While I was on EP, I had a similar scary experience. The story is below. I am hoping that it keeps someone safe.

Being on the internet can have it’s scary moments. I am sure most of us realize that people aren’t always who they say they are and that it is imperative that we protect ourselves. I pride myself on being a good judge of character and for having a good BS radar due to the line of work I am in. I get lied to a lot.

Every once in awhile, something scary happens and believe me, I have had quite a few incidences. I guess some people equate kindness with stupidity. A very big mistake on their part. I am NOT stupid by any stretch of the imagination.

I am writing this story in the hopes that it helps you to be safe by listening to your gut and the clues that wackadoos give you.

I met a gentleman here a few years ago. He happened to be from near my hometown. Nice enough. He was going through a divorce and some red flags popped up. He told me his wife made him quit his job (hmmm?) and that he needed an escort to enter his house (i.e. police). He wanted my picture-not happening. Then he disappeared for a few months.

When he returned online, his opening line was: I have chosen you as one of my 6 potential life partners. Oh, really now. I am not sure where I was in his decision making process, but I assure you, I don’t have a list and if I did, he was not on it. He asked if he could come to my home (no and hell no) and demanded a picture. The more insistent he became, the more I dug my heels in. A month or so later, I posted an older face pic and he was very upset that I shared it with everyone before him. Are you getting the picture?

Wait, it gets worse, much worse. He moved down to his number 2 choice on his list and headed west. This poor lady thought he loved her. He was the second man she had slept with btw. It did not turn out well. I got this message from him stating: ok, ladies, you can go after her now. (WTH????) Another BIG red flag.

One morning, I was online and I received a chat from him. That was unusual. His opening line was I know who you areâ. Excuse me? I know who you are. Prove it, I said and he did. He had a database he used to check out potential renters. (my info has since been removed from this database.) He verified my identity by using my daughter’s obituary. Yes, that is right. My daughter’s obituary. I can't print what I said to him.

His response was that I OWED him since I did not give him a picture and that he had the RIGHT to know who he was talking to. It takes a lot to get me riled up. I have a very slow fuse, but there are a couple of hot buttons and he hit them all.

He just didn’t get why I was upset. He asked me if he could send a character witness to vouch for him..well, I think his character spoke for itself. I got a message from his closest lady friend on here. She took my side and let him have it. She also verified that while he disappeared, he had had some kind of mental breakdown. (as a side note, she also stabbed me in the back over a man)

I am very careful of what I share as far as personal information. Only three of my ep friends has been in my home. Only 5 people know who I am. Please do not ask me for any personal info. I will not give it to you. The more insistent you become, the more protective I become. If you happen to cross the line, I will take action. Period, end of story

I was stalked by a creep on EP. Got a message one day and we started talking. He seemed very nice and we seemed to click. But after several days of talking he slipped and mentioned he hit his mother. Well, I was aghast and said I'm sorry I can't talk to someone who hits his mother. He said he didn't mean to say it (no shit) and that it isn't true. I told him, no you slipped up, it's true. So I asked him to please just leave me alone. He wouldn't so I blocked him. Then he messaged me a number of times using different names. I told him I'd report him if he didn't leave me alone. He said he would find me and cut me up in little pieces and put me in his stew. I got real scared because he knew what town I lived in. Long story short he harassed me for months, even to the site I went to after EP shut down. He had I don't know how many accounts. He even held it together enough a few months later by getting me to talk to him again until suddenly one day something seemed eerily familiar so I asked him is this you? And he laughed and said yes, you see you belong to me, you can't get away from me. I stopped looking at messages unless I'd known the person since before he came into the pic. But I got loads of messages from people with o account history so I;m pretty sure it was him. He finally went away, I hope not to bother some other poor woman. It can be scary and some of these creeps can be very charming and pleasant when they want to be.

@katielass I will only give out my first name and the state I live in. I just had someone PM me and want to know the city I lived in but I wouldn't say. I've also been asked for my personal email address here.😶 It's good you shared this, there's safety in numbers...we're all here for you katie!🤗💐
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Peaches i won't even give out those 2 things anymore.
Peaches · F
@akindheart I can totally understand!!!😟

It's one thing to share personal information with someone you've been communicating with for a while and with whom you feel at ease. Even then, as you've noted, it may not be a good idea. Some of the stories I've read here are downright scary.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@sciguy18 oh i can tell a few more. i am really careful now

When I was first on EP a few years ago I was in a very bad place in my life. I opened up my heart to someone and behaved very recklessly. I blush when I think how trusting I was!
I was extremely lucky that he turned out to be a good guy and is still a very dear friend. It could have gone so differently!
We all need to be so careful there are people who prey on the vulnerable and it can get very scary and dangerous.
I am much more cautious now!
akindheart · 61-69, F
@SW-User thank goodness you were with the right guy and he didn't turn it. i think of the men i met and i cringe. i could have gotten killed. stupid me.

I've had an experience like that, though it wasn't on EP or similar worlds. There's some big creeps out there.

@akindheart I recently had a girl "friend me" then ask for my home email address so I could hear her sing?!😳I asked her why not just post it here because I don't give out my personal email...didn't hear from her again so I removed her from my circle of friends and blocked!

@Peaches i had some problems on ep with a manand woman now i have a third stalking me. I recognized the name of the profile sammy11 as being one of the stalkers. she was trying to get info about me.
Peaches · F
@akindheart I've had 2 or 3 do the same to me.😞👎🏼
SW-User
Very very scary.

I once had a woman here who told me, within a few minutes of our first conversation, that she knows that we're meant to be together. She then referred to herself as my wife. Of course, she was blocked immediately.
SW-User
No. She isn't even close to normal.

I hope she doesn't return, but as I said, I'm preparing if she does. Or if she found out any of my personal info and choses to act upon it.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@SW-User can you even imagine what would happen?
SW-User
@akindheart I am certain it would result in necessary action on my part with not small amounts of unfortunate difficulties that she would experience
I have chosen you as one of my 6 potential life partners
Every time I read that I just shake my head. That has got to be the world's worst pick up line.

I do not understand the need to know someone's IRL info. It does not enhance our online experience. However, there are a few who know where I live and vice versa.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@jim44444 Isn't that crazy? like i was just going to say hey ok...people who try to get personal information has a hidden agenda. i know who it is.
TBone · M
That was quite a story. Sorry you've had to deal with creeps like that! You certainly can't be..too careful..when dealing with folks on the internet. Sounds like you have a pretty good policy in place now, for you protection. Good for you!
akindheart · 61-69, F
@TBone Thank you for commenting. it shows you can't be too careful.
MrSquishy · 56-60, M
What a pig!
akindheart · 61-69, F
@MrSquishy a sick one at that.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
The hell? I've known you for years and know this isn't just a scary tale.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Crazywaterspring aww thanks sweetie...nope i don't lie!! this be the truth
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@akindheart I know you don't lie. That is completely out of character for you.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Crazywaterspring and thank you for that. there is no reason to ever lie...😘
LynnUK · 46-50, F
WOW!!!! well done you and your sixth sense
akindheart · 61-69, F
@LynnUK thank you...please be careful online!
LynnUK · 46-50, F
@akindheart I think your right, I need to reconsider a lot
Peaches · F
Hmmm,🤔he sounds familiar. My wide awake nightmare is STILL running around here with multiple accounts, but I have a few friends who know who he/she is and helps me out when I get a surprise attack. We are stronger in numbers, and YES it's too bad some ignorant fools here take kindness for weakness!👎🏼😠 Stay strong.🤗💐
Loomfree · 31-35, F
that was scary
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Loomfree yes and be careful on here.
katielass · F
