Do you have apple trees? Fruit trees of any kind?

I'd like to. I have expensive sticks right now.

Yes, we have several acres of land. Much of it is vineyard, but we also have apples, cherries, a pear tree, a peach tree, oranges, lemons, probably one I'm forgetting... :P

I have a couple plum trees and some figs. The figs have gotten frozen in mid-spring and have to regrow so I don’t get fruit...here it is August and only have one branch of fruit that hasn’t ripened yet. I am wanting to remove them because of they take up room and are a lot of work to trim etc.

@TexChik Some years we have a lot and some years not, depending on if we have a late freeze. My favorite plum tree died. The fruit was red inside & tasted like it was mixed with sweet cherries. We got a good crop of those & it died a couple years later. I think because a tree near it had been removed & maybe they poisoned the trunk-stump of it.

@TexChik These figs are easy to start. I’d love to start the branches and give them to people to plant. I think they’d do better in Texas than Oklahoma because we get too many late freezes that sets them back so no harvest.

@saragoodtimes that’s great! We had to cut ours down to about a foot high after a storm a couple years ago. This year, it’s producing like crazy.
@FloridaGuy they come back quickly. have 2 in pots that I bring in for the winter and 1 in the yard that I wrap to preserve. it starts from the ground every year and is bushy but gives me lots of figs in late sept

Very rewarding. Do you make preserves? I don’t even know what to do with all of them. @saragoodtimes

Growing up, my parents had two sour cherry trees and two apple trees, in remembrance of my grandparents front "yard", which had three sour cherries and two apple trees.

Just remember, in 15 years when your fruit trees are fine and tall, to cut them and prune them. My grandparents apple trees stopped bearing when they were too tall and too old.

I have cherry and a pear tree. We planted both of those 8 years ago and they are starting to grow like crazy. I'm still waiting for the fruit
