During the summer between my 4th and 5th grade years my family moved from Flint, Michigan to Charleston, South Carolina. On my first day of 5th grade at my new school I was ganged up on and badly beaten up on the playground at recess by four 7 year old black boys. Here is a picture of me taken before I headed off to school that day.
