I Have Schizophrenia

I've been in remission for the past 2 years. Latuda worked miracles for me. It saddens me to see my symptoms slowly coming back.

I wish there were better psych meds, I really do 馃槥
@SW-User Latuda was a miracle for me. No typical antipsych side effects. Risperdal permanently fucked up my reproductive system. I took it at 14 and Im almost 20 now. but there should be more options than newer version of old stuff.

@bittybear that's the problem, they don't have anything that's genuinely new, it's just iterations of the same old stuff. I had such a bad experience with Seroquel that I'll never take antipsychotics ever again, even though they'd probably help in some ways.

There haven't been any new bipolar meds for decades, they're all just repurposed epilepsy drugs with all kinds of scary side effects of their own. I still take them, though, because the alternative is living in hell.
This is what inspires me to become part of the chemical side of the pharmaceutical industry. They can make new things for everything else except mental illness. @SW-User

I feel for you and what you are experiencing. While my DH has good meds, they could be better.
@CoffeeFirst Visual hallucinations, disorganized, unusual kind of irritability and going in circles in conversation. I'm really high functioning so a lot of things go undetected unless someone is really close. My DH sees it and I finally told him that the behaviors have a name. My mom and I told him about my history from day 1 but he'd never seen schizophrenia up close. It's just a matter of time before im hearing things again.
