Gaming question: Why is Kojima so praised?

I mean, I know Konami fired him...but have you ever thought it was with good reason? He obviously can't write to save his life...I made a post before on why MGSPP was overrated...but it's seriously overrated...he forgot simple character traits that characters HE WROTE were famous for...MGSPP was a mess mostly thanks to him, can you blame Konami?

Kojima's great, I've quite enjoyed his writing for a looong time. He's a very unique writer more than anything and he's incredibly passionate about his work, a thing any artist could be praised for. And if you think that Konami's reasons for firing him were entirely justified, boy do you not understand how Konami works. The inner workings of that company are some of the most draconian bullshit imaginable.

Phantom Pain was also great stuff, though if you're not very invested in Metal Gear then it's not really a title that's necessarily gonna mean a whole lot to you. Your criticisms seem to imply you're not very familiar with the source material. It was unfortunate that it got cut short, but that was Konami's doings so just kinda gotta deal with it and that's the end of the story. Metal Gear is about to go down the tubes with that stupid Metal Gear Survive shit, so 馃し.

@bettylesswear: That's kinda my point there. If you don't enjoy it, just don't play it and move on with life.

@UndeadPrivateer: Uh I think you are misunderstanding. I was talking about you. You're the one who started doing personal insults because someone didn't like your game 馃檮

@bettylesswear: What personal insults? 馃

I blame Konami more for the Phantom Pain than Kojima. I thought it was a great game albeit an unfinished product. Metal Gear is one of my favorite series. It's not that he's a bad writer per se, he's just notorious for throwing curveballs at his audience and catching them off guard.
