Ugh, my friend is such a purist when it comes to gambling.

We were playing cards tonight and betting a couple dollars each so it was really just pocket change. The pot amounted to $16.37 and this friend of mine won it, but insisted he didn't because he disagreed on one of the rules of the card game. It started an argument that turned into a fight and he threw the money everywhere. All over sixteen bucks.

Wow. I can't imagine getting that upset over $16 and I typically am a stickler for rules.

@KiwiBird My understanding was that he argued that under the rules they should not have declared him the winner.

@BlueMetalChick Do I understand this incorrectly?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@sarabee1995 Nope, you got it correctly.

He won then argued he didn't. WTF.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@KiwiBird I know, he's a little..."on the spectrum." Like, he's not autistic or Asperger's but he sometimes displays some peculiar traits like people with those disorders.

Then again, so do I, probably more than him, so I can't judge.

Sounds like he takes the game too seriously, which can happen with amateurs in any game or sport when they start to think that they are professionals.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User His story is that when he was a kid his brother used to cheat at cards and break the rules all the time so now as an adult it causes irrational anger in him. I don't know if that's true but that's what he says.
SW-User
@BlueMetalChick It could be true. I have certain situational triggers too, like people coming near my food 🤨
SW-User
Sounds like the kind of friend you don't invite to parties
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User He's a fun guy in most other ways. He's really good at cards so it's enjoyable to play with him but he's such an elitist when it comes to card game rules and etiquette and stuff like that. I wouldn't dare try to slow roll him in poker or else he might stab someone lol

I mean, come on, who argues that they DIDN'T win the game? Just take the damn money.
SW-User
the purist who ....?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User I know, it sounds funny, like gambling is the opposite of purity.
SW-User
@BlueMetalChick It's not, it's often misguided, but that's another story. I swear with alcohol, I sometimes understand some elements other's don't.
